SANTA MARIA GARLIC RUB
Using Smoked Oak Flake Salt beautifully captures the smoked oak flavor used when grilling Santa Maria Style. Santa Maria BBQ originated back in the mid 1800's in the Santa Maria Valley area of California. Local ranchers would host large BBQs for their vaqueros (Cowboy ranch hands) friends and guests barbecuing meats seasoned with garlic, pepper & salt over earthen pits filled with hot coals of red oak which grew in the area. This resulted in a smoky, hearty flavor still being considered as one of the best to this day.
